I am unable to email a jpeg file from the email option in Windows Photo Viewer. When I click 'email' at the top of the screen, a small window appears showing the size of the file, 230 kb. I then select 'attach' and the following message appears:

There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.

I also have the same problem with other programs such as Word or when I attempt to send a message through a website's email link. There is no problem with sending any attachments when I add the attachment to a new email that I have already opened in Mail.

Microsoft's Mail came pre-installed and is the default program, set to open MAILTO and MS-MAIL. I use my ISP's email service and it shows up in the Mail program under Folders.

I've had this problem as long as I've had this computer, about 9 months. The computer came with Windows 8 and I have since updated to 8.1. Windows Office Home and Student 2007 has been downloaded; it does not have any email program included.

Is there some adjustment I can make or do I need a different version of Microsoft Mail?
