Hi Richard
The best thing I can recommend in that case is to create a PST (add the
Personal Folder option to your profile, this can be done in the control panel
using the mail applet), then drag and drop your mail to the PST. The PST is
stored locally on your laptop/PC. You still want to archive of course and you
can create a new archive for your version of Outlook 2003.
You may want to occasionally back up your PST's, either copy them up to a
network drive (your home drive or whatever it's called) or burn it to CD,
however you would like to store it. However do NOT use the PST across the
network since this can cause corruption since Outlook requires read/write
access to the file, if it's kept on a network share and the connection is
interrupted you can run into problems. All you want to do is store a copy on
the network so that it's backed up, unless you back it up yourself.
