I have two computers in my office that are not on a network. I use Outlook
to organize my boss' info and email. She would like to be able to look at
outlook from her computer and check her calendar and contact and be able to
put notes in there. Can I set up outlook to work using the same profile and
email accounts without messingup my outlook account? My worry is that I
won't get all emails and info on mine which is the more important computer.

I open Outlook and get this message:
Cannot open your default email-folders. You must connect to Microsoft
Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders
with your offline folder file.
I was receiving a different error message so I moved all of .ost files out
of the Outlook folder, deleted my profile in Control Panel -> Mail. Then
created a profile with my exchange account. But now when I open Outlook I get
the above error. ANy ideas?

We have a manager here who wants to leave a place holder with the attachment
name in a saved email after the attachment has been removed, like what you
see when a message is replied too <<attachment name>> etc.. Does Outlook have
that capability or are there any third party products that have that function
?

Isn't there a way to "imbed" logos in an email signature? I'm tired of
people asking why I've sent them an attachment of my logo.
The body of the email is fine, and the logos are there, but when sent they
appear as attachments too.
It shows up in their email as a gif or jpeg depending on which logo i'm using.
Any help is much appreciated!

We have a couple of users that are having the following (annoying) exoerience:
Whenever Outlook and RDC are in use and they either open an e-mail message
or start a new message, the resulting window opens behind the main Outlook
window.
Both are using WinXP sp2 and Outlook 2003.

I'm using Vista on a Dell machine. Can anyone help me figure out why I
continuously get the "enter network password" dialog box opening up? I
enter my password click OK and a second later it comes right back. It
also does the same thing when I click on cancel.
It comes up so much I can't type without having to keep clicking on it.
I'm going nuts.

I know there are several settings files in each user profile in

a link to) info of what files control which aspects of Outlook. For example,
layout, preferences, etc. I am trying to do a piecemeal restore of an Outlook
install and don't want to restore all settings as I believe some of them may

| Alternate mime encodings in Outlook 2007 [message #426152] |
Tue, 07 October 2008 10:36 |

I use Outlook 2007 in a mostly Lotus Notes corporate environment. (My email
gets forwarded to UNIX server, where I read it through pop3.)
Apparently, when people in Notes respond to my emails, they are returned as
multipart MIME messages with a text/plan part, and a text/html part. And
evidently, whatever they put in their response is only put in one or the
other encoding, but not both. My original message is left unmolested in the
other one.
Outlook evidently prefers one encoding for decoding, and it seems to be the
one without their response. So I get back a message that's what I sent out,
and I don't see their response.
Is there a way to have Outlook decode and show me both MIME parts? Or is
there some option to get it to prefer a particular decoding?
As it stands now, I have to go to the UNIX server and look at the raw email.
Hopefully, the encoding is readable (7bit, 8bit, quoted-printable),
otherwise it's a pain to decode the base64.
Thanks.

| Monster Reminder window [message #426150] |

I have several different .pst files displayed in Outlook 2007, which is on
my freestanding home computer, not on a network. Two days ago I, apparently
in error, used drag and drop to transfer a large number of messages from one
of those files to another. To my surprise, apparently as a consequence of
that, a calendar Reminder window appeared, showing not events scheduled in
the calendar, but messages. I clicked on the 'Dismiss' button, and on the
'Dismiss all' button, but to no avail. Since then, this Reminder window has
reappared frequently and it has been growing. Yesterday it had about 400
messages in it; now it has around 3,500. I'm not sure what's wrong, nor
what to do about it. Can anyone help with this? Thanks.

| 'Scan to Email' From SCanner or Software Fails [message #426147] |

Vista Business & Office 2003. USB connected HPC5180 Multi Function Device.
Have been able to Scan direct to email using either the Hp Software or the
Control Panel on the HP5180 without any problems ever since the printer was
installed. About a month ago Outlook had a problem in that 3 Read receipts
got 'stuck' and would not send, blocking one of the 3 Accounts I have set up.
In order to clear the read receipts I followed instructions on the
How-to-Outlook web site and used mdbvu32.
Since then the Scan to Email fails after the Scan has taken place and at
what seems to be the point when an attempt is made to create email. A
message box appears with the title 'HP Photo & Imaging Gallery' and the
message 'Send to Email Failed'. An error appears in the event log "Faulting
application hpqdstcp.exe, version 82.0.173.0, time stamp 0x457cdd1d, faulting
module MFC80.DLL," First instincts would suggest that the HP software is at
fault but as it only started when the read receipts were removed it points to
outlook. Anyway I went ahead and uninstalled the current HP software and
downloaded and installed the latest version for Vista but it made no
difference. Today I used Outlooktools and ran ScanPST and repaired the pst
file. The very first test 'Scan to Email' after the repair worked fine but
subsequent tests have failed. I have also done a detect & repair from within
outlook and also a repair installation on Office 2003.
Does anyone have any ideas of other things I could try.

I had to replace my computer; I had been running Outlook 2002 on Win XP, my
new machine has Vista Home Premium x64. I installed Outlook 2002 on the new
machine, and I've also copied my PST file onto the new machine (though it had
to go in a different location, directory-wise, than it occupied on the old
machine, if that makes a difference). How do I import my old data into the
new installation of Outlook? Thanks.
